Operations Manager – International Freight Forwarding – Houston, TX

Salary: $130,000 + Bonus + Benefits

The ideal applicant would be able to operate well under pressure and have prior expertise in international freight forwarding. Join our vibrant team of freight forwarding specialists.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Directly reporting to the SVP, management and direction of all daily Houston operations and people
  • Help the Culture grow in a way that will foster a high-performing operational environment.
  • Gain a thorough knowledge and grasp of the company’s objectives, mission, and strategy. Connect these to the aims of the Houston business.
  • Developing organisational strategies with the SVP and other top management, putting them into practise inside the company through objectives and KPI using SMART goals
  • Implement staff retention and development activities in collaboration with the SVP and HR business partner.
  • Fostering a culture of high accountability, urgency, commitment to value-added services, and continual development both within individuals and within departments
  • Set a good example to have a beneficial impact on culture and behaviour

  • Maintain communication with functional and departmental managers to make sure they are completely aware of the goals, purposes, and accomplishments of operations.
  • By implementing effective KPI and metrics, developing processes, and leading the Operations teams
  • Through the processes of hiring, training/development, and mentoring, cultivate fresh talent.
  • Utilizing a disciplined team goal-setting process, ensure prompt billing and control of WIPs and accruals to support the business’s cash flow.
  • By creating and providing top-notch customer service, support the network of offices and outside clients.
  • Managing the completion of significant bids and tenders facilitated by the inside sales department in collaboration with the commercial manager and other internal stakeholders
  • Keeping high-level connections with clients, partners, and suppliers

Requirements:

  • 5+ Years Operations Experience in Freight Forwarding Industry
  • Batchelor’s degree in business, logistics or equivalent combination of knowledge and teaching
  • Proficient using Freight Forwarding software (Cargowise 1, SAP, AS400)
  • Understanding and practice in Microsoft Excel and database functions.
  • Out-going and forward-thinking mindset with the ability to decode problems in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and international applicable laws and regulations as they relate to primary services provided (i.e., customs, security, other import and export government agencies)

This is a direct-hire, full-time, permanent position.
