Branch Manager – International Freight Forwarding – Dallas, TX

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Executes the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors to achieve optimum efficiency and excellence in the operations of the branch and maximize profits
  • It is the Branch Manager’s responsibility to manage the branch’s P&L, financials and operational results
  • Business leadership involves leading both the sales and operations organizations
  • Maximize profitability
  • Retain customers by ensuring customer satisfaction and retention
  • Leadership and development of staff
  • Plan, develop, and implement organizational policies and goals
  • To ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness coordinate branch office activities such as export, import, brokerage, planning, sales, and maintenance.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations and maintains warehouse facilities
  • Establishes new markets, increases market share, and attains a competitive position in the industry by directing and coordinating product and service promotion
  • Establishes areas where operating budgets may be reduced by analyzing branch budget requests and allocating resources
  • Review activity, operating, and sales reports with administrative personnel to determine what changes need to be made to programs and operations
  • Establish guidelines for the implementation of new policies, programs, or operations to be communicated to employees
  • Aims to promote an organization in a specific industry or trade association
  • Conducts analysis and organizes office operations and procedures, such as personnel management, information management, filing systems, requisition of supplies, and other clerical activities.
  • Ensures maximum office productivity by utilizing appropriate software applications
  • Analyze data to monitor performances and plan improvements in delivery performance
  • Evaluate logistical problems and create new solutions
  • Formulates procedures for systematic retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records
  • Prepares activity reports for guidance of management
  • Maintains contact with customers and outside vendors
  • Directs activities of workers engaged in assigning tariff classifications according to type and weight of freight or merchandise; routing and scheduling shipment by air, rail, or truck; and preparing billings from tariff and classification manuals
  • Reviews documents to ensure that assigned classifications and tariffs are in accordance with the mode of transportation and destination of the shipment
  • Oversee investigation of shipper or consignee complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility
  • Directs preparation of claims against carrier responsible and corresponds with shipper or consignee to effect settlement
  • Schedules shipments to ensure compliance with interstate traffic laws and regulations and company policies
  • Directly supervises 2-10 employees
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions

Requirements:

  • 10+ Years Operations Experience in Freight Forwarding Industry
  • Batchelor’s degree in business, logistics or equivalent combination of knowledge and teaching
  • Proficient using Freight Forwarding software (Cargowise 1, SAP, AS400)
  • Understanding and practice in Microsoft Excel and database functions.
  • Out-going and forward-thinking mindset with the ability to decode problems in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and international applicable laws and regulations as they relate to primary services provided (i.e., customs, security, other import and export government agencies)
