Air & Ocean Import Specialist Job – International Freight Forwarding – Houston, TX

Location: Humble, Texas

Salary: $65,000 + Benefits Package

Description: Join a successful import division in the heart of Humble, Texas. We are seeking seasoned and knowledgeable coordinators, experts, and clerks in international freight forwarding. Experience in handling air and ocean shipments from start to finish is necessary.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Enter the information needed to track international imports by air and ocean from point of origin to point of destination.
  • Ensure that shipments are compliant with all regulations and have accurate documentation, including transit documents and customs clearances.
  • A timely processing, distribution, and release of paperwork to carriers, forwarders, clients, and agents is essential.
  • Prepare all significant data input and confirm important milestones in accordance with the customer’s standard operating procedures (departure, arrival, customs clearance, PODs, etc.).
  • uphold polite, efficient, and timely customer service.
  • By supervising and completing proper billing to clients based on agreed pricing, you can maintain accurate costs and profits.
  • Ensure that shipments are picked up and transferred with the proper partners.
  • Develop techniques and procedures for transporting commodities from local or offshore locations to warehouses, other storage offices, or final consignee locations for nominated shippers.
  • Prepare timely management information and reports as specified and requested by the Branch Manager.
  • As directed by the Branch Manager, prepare timely management information and reports.
  • Negotiate shipping costs to stay competitive, then submit them for Branch Manager approval.

  • Create ties and declarations for customs.

  • Establish and maintain fruitful connections with regional vendors and other co-load carriers.
  • Establish and maintain the necessary processes to guarantee that everyone works in a hygienic, orderly, secure, and safe environment.

Requirements:

  • 5+ Years of Experience in Export Operations in the Freight Forwarding Sector
  • a bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a closely related field, along with the appropriate knowledge and training for teaching.
  • good at using software for freight forwarding (Cargowise 1, SAP, AS400)
  • understanding of and proficiency with database operations and Microsoft Excel.
  • a positive, futuristic mindset with the ability to quickly decipher issues.
  • Understanding of relevant state, federal, and international laws and regulations as they relate to the core services provided (i.e., customs, security, other import and export government agencies)

This is a direct-hire, full-time, permanent position.
