Air & Ocean Export Specialist – International Freight Forwarding – Houston, TX

Salary: $65,000 + Benefits Package

Location: Humble, TX

Description: Become a vital part of Houston’s thriving export department. We are looking for coordinators, specialists, and clerks with experience in international freight forwarding who wish to advance their careers. It is necessary to have prior experience handling air and ocean freight from beginning to end.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • All export documentation for each part of the transportation function has been completed from the point of origin to the point of destination.
  • According to the customer’s specified operating protocols, schedule the necessary data entry and confirmation of important dates (departure, arrival, customs clearance, PODs, etc.).
  • to ensure that costs and profits are kept to a minimum, oversee and complete accurate billing to clients in accordance with pricing established by the client.
  • Create methods and procedures for delivering goods to warehouses, other storage facilities, or final consignee locations from local or offshore locations on behalf of specific shippers.
  • Apply existing regulatory knowledge to HTS/Schedule B number categorisation, tariff filing, hazardous material handling, and any other government agency needs.
  • Responds to emails and rate requests in a timely manner, assisting local sales efforts.
  • Establish and manage all critical procedures to ensure that all employees work in a clean, well-organised, safe, and healthy workplace.
  • Maintain polite, timely, and efficient customer service.
  • Organizes actions along the order fulfilment and shipment cycle to make sure that deadlines are met.
  • Freight costs should be regularly examined to identify areas of the supply chain where cost savings may be possible.

  • To uncover opportunities to save costs in the supply chain, regularly review freight costs.
  • To ensure a seamless flow of assets while achieving customer criteria including timetables and financial budgets, stock flow management works in conjunction with the warehouse team, buyers, and other partners.
  • A talent is the ability to examine and streamline shipping and transportation operations.

Requirements:

  • 5+ Years Export Operations Experience in Freight Forwarding Industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field with a commensurate combination of knowledge and teaching experience
  • Proficient in Freight Forwarding software (Cargowise 1, SAP, AS400)
  • Understanding of Microsoft Excel and database functions, as well as competence with them.
  • Mindset that is outgoing and forward-thinking, with the capacity to decode problems quickly.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations at the state, federal, and international levels as they pertain to the core services supplied (i.e., customs, security, other import and export government agencies)
